Hot Chip – Huarache Lights

Hot Chip span back almost as far as Chemical Brothers, having released their first album in 2000 — they’ve put out 5 albums over the past 15 years.  Exploring different styles of electronica, they’ve had a balance of unusual applications with common themes, while maintaining a somewhat organic feel.  Lyrics in “Huarache Lights” include “machines are great, but best when they come to life,” which seems like a bit of self recognition.  “Replace us with the things that do the job better” starts off as unaltered vocals, and then transforms into a heavily processed vocoder.  It has a certain attractiveness that is often compared to LCD Soundsystem — another outfit known for a very humanly processed feel with self-recognizing lyrics.

While the post above makes me want to grab one of my favorite snacks (Huaraches), the video for “Need You Now,” posted below, also came out about a month ago.  Hot Chip is currently touring the US and the Globe.
